Ufa Airport is completing the new lighting installation of the second runway
Installation works on the lighting equipment for the second runway will be completed by July 15, 2016.The process of installation of the in-pavement airport lighting is in progress, cable pits for lighting equipment are ready to be used, and the geodetic service completed marking the spots for the side row lights. At the same time works on strengthening the edges of the paved runway and taxiways and hydroseeding the adjacent grounds are in full swing. Whatever is required for the functioning of the runway has passed the test and is ready to be installed.
During the reconstruction the length and width of the second runway remained the same (3735 and 60 m, respectively) while its concrete pavement was completely replaced. Concrete paving was carried out according to the conventional technology that has been adopted worldwide: the concrete mixture was poured with three layers, each of which has characteristics that contribute to the elasticity and strength of the runway. The average service life of such high-quality concrete pavement is at least 20 years. It should be pointed out that the reconstructed second runway will be able to accept all types of aircraft, including such aircraft as Boeing-747, Boeing-777, Ruslan, Airbus-330. It won’t limit the number of take-offs and landings.
‘Upon completion, Ufa airport will have a modern aerodrome with a huge diversity of technological capabilities. Modernization will allow us to increase the aerodrome’s efficiency as well as to improve its capacity for the next 15-20 years’, - said Alexander Andreev, Director General of Ufa International airport.
Ufa International airport is a modern aviation complex, capable to accept aircrafts of all types. It’s the first regional airport in Russia, confirming its compliance with ISAGO (IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations) manufacturing standards. The airport is used by more than 40 Russian and foreign air companies, has two paved runways with taxiways and two Terminals.
